BREATHE
Rebirthing Mental Wellness – Love, Work & Play
Through Psychodynamic Therapy
by Telemedicine until further notice
Breathing In and Breathing Out Give Oxygen to Your Body.
Breathing in love that is sustaining, work that is meaningful, and play that is fun are the foundation of a healthy life. Breathing affects your heart rate, blood pressure, circulation, digestion, hormone secretion, and is a 24-7 unconscious act.
Breathe In
Love
Without love we are void of music, joy and intimacy.
With love we can be all of whom we are created to be.
How well do you love?
You must love in such a way that the person you love feels free.
~ Thich Nan Hahn
Work
Work provides meaning and purpose in life.
Follow your passions and work will develop.
Have you lost your way?
Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.
~John Lennon
Play
Play is a mindset of endless curiosity – full of energy and adventure.
Play expands creativity.
How much time do you give to play?
In the sun that is young once only, Time let me play and Be.
~ Dylan Thomas
Breathe Out
Like breathing, emotions are primarily unconscious and drive your life choices – and manifest in behavior and symptoms.
Contemporary psychoanalytic psychotherapy helps you stay with and tolerate these unconscious feelings that drive negative behaviors or bad choices that interfere with healthy love, work and play.
Just like breathing in and out in a repetitive manner helps the body renew at the cellular level, the repetition of feeling and remembering will allow you to let go of original reactions and birth new ways of coping and feeling.
Breathe in clean fresh air on a mountain while hiking and breathe out toxic air from city life. Breathe in new ways of thinking and feeling, breathe out toxic relationships, poor choices, and all that interferes with your capacity to play.
There is more to life…
Searching for help, calling and coming in for therapy is an act of faith that you are believing there is more to life than what you are currently feeling.
Most people come into treatment because they are stuck and cannot find a way out on their own. After all, we are not born onto an island but in relation to another. There is no baby without its mother, and no mother without a baby.
So, together, as adults we will discover where you are stuck and how you got there. If you are feeling fragmented, that is a clue; if you are feeling overwhelmed and just don’t know how to explain what is going on, that is another clue.
You may be having symptoms of not eating, or eating too much, not sleeping, or sleeping too much – again, these are clues. If you are having medical issues such as seizures or digestive issues, these are different kinds of clues.
Our initial time together will feel like coming into my kitchen for a cup of freshly brewed hot cinnamon stick tea, but I am listening and observing all the ways that you are feeling in pain from your mind, from your heart, from your body and how these manifests in your love, work and play.
This is called a diagnostic evaluation. I then discuss the best recommendation to set you up for success. After all, not everyone can take their tea without sugar, and some may need a cinnamon stick without the tea bag to drink the tea at their preferred temperature. The art of tea making and drinking is a complicated process and so are your emotional needs in order to get unstuck.
I will explain to you the initial process of coming in for an evaluation. Evaluations are for your benefit
in being understood as to what is driving you into therapy at this moment.
A recommendation will be given that will set you up for success.
Hi, I’m Paula.
Suffering is part of being human and can be used as a portal onto the path of wholeness. I want to empower you to create mental wellness for your own well-being, creating knowledge of your inner life, and surrendering past pains. This is as much a spiritual journey as it is a human effort to live one life to the fullest.
I am here to assist you in giving you emotional birth by being all of whom you are created to be – in love, work and play.
